RUPEE FALLS 16 PAISE AGAINST US DOLLAR TO 55.53

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on monday. rupee was down by 16 paise or 0.29% against usd to rs 55.53 .
at 09.23 a.m., the sensex was trading down 29.19 points or 0.17% at 17,400.79 with 18 components falling. meanwhile, the nifty was trading lower by 6.35 points or 0.12% at 5,272.55 with 31 components falling.
in the spot market, the dollar index increased 0.19% to 81.78 (23:47 et).
euro - usd was trading at 1.26 down 0.34% while usd - japanese yen was trading at 79.76 down 0.04% (23:48 et).
