IN INTRADAY TRADING TIPS 19 JUL 2012


SENSEX PARES SOME GAINS; IT, METAL, POWER RISE
DATE: 19/07/2012  
     Indian markets continued to rally for the third day on Thursday.  Sensex was trading up 108.79 points or 0.63% at 17,293.80 with 26 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 34.35 points or 0.66% at 5,250.65 with 45 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 103.33 points or 0.60% at 17,288.34, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 33.55 points or 0.64%, at 5,249.85.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of 21.33 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (20.37 points), Tata Motors (10.03 points), Reliance Industries (9.76 points) and Larsen & Toubro (8.78 points).
However, Maruti Suzuki India contributed fall of 14.05 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (6.86 points), Hero Motocorp (2.52 points), H D F C Bank (1.12 points) and ACC (0.06 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (1.90%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.74%), I C I C I Bank (1.68%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.63%), Infosys Technologies (1.58%), and Jindal Steel & Power (1.49%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (6.94%), Bharti Airtel (1.42%), Hero Honda Motors (1.02%), and H D F C Bank (0.09%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Sectors in Limelight
The IT index was at 5,300.37, up by 66.72 points or by 1.27%. The major gainers were Mphasis (1.81%), Oracle Financial Services Software (1.75%), Infosys (1.58%), H C L Technologies (1.33%) and Hexaware Technologies (0.57%).
The Metal index was at 10,698.32, up by 130.69 points or by 1.24%. The major gainers were Jindal Steel & Power (1.49%), Hindalco Industries (1.08%), Hindustan Zinc (0.8%), Coal India (0.78%) and Bhushan Steel (0.26%).
The Power index was at 1,957.31, up by 22.49 points or by 1.16%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.63%), Reliance Infrastructure (1.17%), Crompton Greaves (0.96%), Adani Power (0.76%) and A B B (0.71%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 9,171.43, down by 8.36 points or by 0.09%. The major losers were Maruti Suzuki India (6.94%), Hero Motocorp (1.02%) and Bharat Forge (0.33%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,203 advances against 546 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Maruti Suzuki India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 386.68 million. It was followed by Indraprastha Gas (Rs. 196.61 million), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 99.15 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 96.68 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 2.73 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (1.04 million), Lanco Infratech (0.95 million) and Indraprastha Gas (0.82 million).

  1. As per Federal bank technical research report one should go short in this counter. Federal bank is looking quite weak at current level and is expected to fall further. Positional traders can go short in Federal bank from current level for good gains.
