SENSEX PARES SOME
GAINS; BHARTI, GAIL, ICICI BANK RISE

Indian equities pared some of its gains and are trading on a flat note. Consumer durables, realty and banking
stocks traded higher.
Sensex was trading up 54.26 points or 0.31% at 17,453.24 with 21
components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 15.25 points or
0.29% at 5,293.85 with 33 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 58.97
points or 0.34% at 17,457.95, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a
rise of 20.25 points or 0.38%, at 5,298.85.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of 17.64 points in the Sensex. It was
followed by Bharti Airtel (16.65 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (12.69 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation
(7.2 points) and Larsen & Toubro (5.76 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 9.43 points in the
Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (8.87 points), I T C (7.37 points),
Hindustan Unilever (5.72 points) and Bharat Heavy Electricals
(2.86 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (3.47%), G A I L
(India) (1.96%), I C I C I Bank (1.44%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.30%), Dr
Reddy`s Laboratories (1.12%), and Housing Development
Finance Corporation (1.11%).
On the other hand, Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.21%), Tata Consultancy Services
(1.06%), Hindustan Unilever (0.98%), Infosys Technologies (0.61%), I T C
(0.44%), and Tata Steel (0.26%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining
0.44% and 0.56% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (2.21%), Aban Offshore (0.63%), Anant Raj Industries (0.53%), Amtek India (0.05%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.03%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (3.59%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.11%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.97%), Aarti Industries (0.86%) and Action Construction Equipment (0.17%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (2.21%), Aban Offshore (0.63%), Anant Raj Industries (0.53%), Amtek India (0.05%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.03%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (3.59%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.11%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.97%), Aarti Industries (0.86%) and Action Construction Equipment (0.17%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,386.35, up by 100.70 points or by 1.60%.
The major gainers were C.Mahendra Exports (1.04%), Rajesh Exports (0.66%),
Bajaj Electricals (0.56%), Gitanjali Gems (0.45%) and Blue Star (0.12%).
The Realty index was at 1,727.88, up by 21.27 points or by 1.25%. The
major gainers were Godrej Properties (4.8%), D L F (2.69%), D B Realty (2.09%),
Anant Raj Industries (0.53%) and Oberoi Realty (0.23%).
The Bankex index was at 12,073.81, up by 86.14 points or by 0.72%. The
major gainers were I C I C I Bank (1.44%), Bank Of India (1.31%), Canara Bank
(0.81%), Bank Of Baroda (0.35%) and H D F C Bank (0.06%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 5,723.41, down by 26.07 points or
by 0.45%. The major losers were Tata Consultancy Services (1.06%), Infosys
(0.61%), Tech Mahindra (0.38%) and Oracle Financial Services
Software (0.29%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,343 advances against 822 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover
of Rs. 235.78 million. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (Rs. 138.59 million),
Jai Corp (Rs. 117.92 million) and Adani Enterprises (Rs. 117.03 million).
The volume chart was led by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision with trades of over 3.45 million shares. It was followed by Lanco
Infratech (3.13 million), JM Financial (2.10 million)
and Jai Corp (1.89 million).
