SENSEX FLAT; SBI MOST ACTIVE

Indian equities continued to rise for the third day on Thursday. Sensex was trading up 36.80 points or 0.22% at 17,004.56 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 9.20 points or 0.18% at 5,151.10 with 34 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 17.82 points or 0.11% at 16,985.58, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 7.05 points or 0.14%, at 5,148.95.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 6.89 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (6.62 points), Larsen & Toubro (6.3 points), NTPC (5.28 points) and I T C (4.91 points).
However, Tata Motors contributed fall of 7.19 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (4.71 points), H D F C Bank (3.2 points), State Bank Of India (1.75 points) and Wipro (1.6 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were NTPC (1.77%), Tata Power Company (1.38%), Coal India (0.79%), Hindalco Industries (0.73%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.73%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.72%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (1.30%), Hero Honda Motors (0.60%), Wipro (0.55%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.55%), H D F C Bank (0.26%), and State Bank Of India (0.26%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.51% and 0.47% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (3.41%), Alstom Projects India (0.53%), Amara Raja Batteries (0.32%), Alok Industries (0.28%) and Amtek India (0.24%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Genesys International Corporation (2.11%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.86%), Action Construction Equipment (0.35%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.24%) and Advanta India (0.06%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (3.41%), Alstom Projects India (0.53%), Amara Raja Batteries (0.32%), Alok Industries (0.28%) and Amtek India (0.24%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Genesys International Corporation (2.11%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.86%), Action Construction Equipment (0.35%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.24%) and Advanta India (0.06%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at 1,928.76, up by 16.77 points or by 0.88%. The major gainers were G M R Infrastructure (0.89%), JSW Energy (0.88%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.61%), Adani Power (0.21%) and A B B (0.18%).
The IPO index was at 1,488.57, up by 11.31 points or by 0.77%. The major gainers were Claris Lifesciences (2.87%), Bedmutha Industries (2.82%), Electrosteel Steels (2.61%), Career Point (1.17%) and Coal India (0.79%).
The PSU index was at 7,157.33, up by 46.17 points or by 0.65%. The major gainers were Andhra Bank(0.78%), Balmer Lawrie & Company (0.64%), Bank Of Baroda (0.57%), Allahabad Bank (0.54%) and Bank Of India (0.17%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 9,239.19, down by 8.86 points or by 0.1%. The major losers were Tata Motors (1.3%), Bosch (1.23%) and Hero Motocorp (0.6%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,087 advances against 593 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 135.07 million. It was followed by Axis Bank (Rs. 107.52 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 92.48 million) and M M T C (Rs. 85.10 million).
The volume chart was led by Manappuram Finance with trades of over 1.53 million shares. It was followed by Hindustan Motors (0.72 million), JM Financial (0.72 million) and Lanco Infratech (0.68 million).
