NSE NIFTY TIPS 02 MAY 2012


SENSEX TRADES UP 51 POINTS; HUL, BHARTI AIRTEL MAJOR GAINERS

Indian equities continued to gain for the fourth day on Wednesday. Sensex was trading up 50.73 points or 0.29% at 17,369.54 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 19.55 points or 0.37% at 5,267.70 with 36 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 52.12 points or 0.30% at 17,370.93, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 6.15 points or 0.12%, at 5,254.30.
Sensex Movers
Hindustan Unilever contributed rise of 16.73 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (11.86 points), I C I C I Bank (11.64 points), Bharti Airtel (9.46 points) and Infosys (8.82 points).
However, Tata Motors contributed fall of 21.88 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (7.45 points), Maruti Suzuki India (1.67 points), Tata Power Company (1.47 points) and NTPC (0.7 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hindustan Unilever (3.09%), Bharti Airtel (1.92%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.76%), D L F (1.74%), Hero Honda Motors (1.42%), and Tata Consultancy Services (1.39%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (3.31%), Bajaj Auto (1.24%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.09%), Tata Power Company (0.71%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.69%), and Coal India (0.37%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.60% and 0.91% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (3.58%), Aban Offshore (0.72%), Alok Industries (0.51%), Alstom Projects India (0.24%) and A B G Shipyard (0.17%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (5.36%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.36%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.24%), Aarti Industries (0.84%) and A B G Infralogistics (0.19%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,685.82, up by 93.90 points or by 1.42%. The major gainers were Titan Industries (2.53%), T T K Prestige (2.05%), Whirlpool Of India (1.09%), C.Mahendra Exports (0.89%) and Gitanjali Gems (0.26%).
The FMCG index was at 4,818.61, up by 46.54 points or by 0.98%. The major gainers were Hindustan Unilever (3.09%), Jubilant FoodWorks (1.4%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.96%), Godrej Consumer Products (0.46%) and I T C (0.35%).
The TECk index was at 3,356.79, up by 30.70 points or by 0.92%. The major gainers were Idea Cellular (3.06%), Mphasis (2.46%), Bharti Airtel (1.92%), Dish TV India (0.92%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.54%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 10,528.80, down by 116.72 points or by 1.1%. The major losers were Tata Motors (3.31%), Exide Industries (1.43%), Bajaj Auto (1.24%), Apollo Tyres (0.72%) and Maruti Suzuki India (0.69%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,326 advances against 669 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Tata Motors -DVR topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 180.00 million. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs. 164.04 million), Pantaloon Retail (India) (Rs. 159.76 million) and Tata Motors (Rs. 117.97 million).
The volume chart was led by Sonata Software with trades of over 5.32 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (1.51 million), Lanco Infratech (1.41 million) and Suryachakra Power Corporation (1.11 million).
