SENSEX GAINS 99 POINTS; IT STOCKS RALLY

Indian markets continue to trade in the positive terrain with some buying interest seen in IT stocks. BSE Midcap and Smallcap index underperformed the Sensex and Nifty.
Sensex was trading up 99.23 points or 0.58% at 17,195.91 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 19.80 points or 0.38% at 5,220.40 with 32 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 58.07 points or 0.34% at 17,154.75, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 15.30 points or 0.29%, at 5,215.90.
Sensex Movers
Tata Consultancy Services contributed rise of 91.86 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Wipro (9.44 points), Infosys (7.01 points), Tata Motors (6.54 points) and Hindustan Unilever (6.46 points).
However, Bharti Airtel contributed fall of 17.91 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (14.36 points), I T C (13.27 points), Larsen & Toubro (11.09 points) and Mahindra & Mahindra (8.32 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (12.17%), Wipro (3.07%), Hindalco Industries (2.02%), Tata Power Company (1.91%), Coal India (1.82%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.44%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (3.52%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.10%), Larsen & Toubro (1.32%), Bajaj Auto (0.97%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.95%), and Reliance Industries (0.92%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts declining -0.06% and -0.06% respectively.
The major losers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies (1.85%), Ashok Leyland (1.74%), Anant Raj Industries (0.96%), Amtek Auto (0.86%) and A B G Shipyard (0.11%).
The major losers in the BSE Smallcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (3.24%), INEOS ABS (India) (0.97%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.85%), Adhunik Metaliks (0.79%) and Trident (0.65%).
The major losers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies (1.85%), Ashok Leyland (1.74%), Anant Raj Industries (0.96%), Amtek Auto (0.86%) and A B G Shipyard (0.11%).
The major losers in the BSE Smallcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (3.24%), INEOS ABS (India) (0.97%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.85%), Adhunik Metaliks (0.79%) and Trident (0.65%).
Sectors in Limelight
The IT index was at 5,524.62, up by 224.00 points or by 4.23%. The major gainers were H C L Technologies (4.28%), Hexaware Technologies (1.48%), Oracle Financial Services Software (0.74%), Mphasis (0.7%) and Infosys (0.51%).
The TECk index was at 3,238.29, up by 82.01 points or by 2.60%. The major gainers were Dish TV India (1.28%), Oracle Financial Services Software (0.74%), Mphasis (0.7%), D B Corp (0.29%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.26%).
The Power index was at 2,055.69, up by 20.13 points or by 0.99%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.44%), Reliance Infrastructure (1.31%), NTPC (1.3%), Crompton Greaves (0.95%) and GVK Power & Infrastructure (0.6%).
On the other hand, the Capital Goods index was at 9,554.65, down by 38.1 points or by 0.4%. The major losers were Larsen & Toubro (1.32%), Lakshmi Machine Works (0.83%), BEML (0.63%), Havell`S India (0.52%) and A B B (0.35%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,090 advances against 1,217 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,359.96 million. It was followed by Infosys (Rs. 1,148.39 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 508.40 million) and Britannia Industries (Rs. 283.46 million).
The volume chart was led by I F C I with trades of over 3.76 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (3.10 million), Lanco Infratech (2.87 million) and Spicejet (2.00 million).
