SENSEX GAINS 80 POINTS; ICICI BANK UP AHEAD OF RESULTS

Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. Sensex was trading up 79.70 points or 0.47% at 17,210.37 with 23 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 26.30 points or 0.51% at 5,215.30 with 41 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 14.72 points or 0.09% at 17,145.39, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat at 5,189.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of 17.34 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (16.23 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (8.39 points), Mahindra & Mahindra (8.04 points) and H D F C Bank (6.09 points).
However, Reliance Industries contributed fall of 11.58 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (2.77 points), Hindustan Unilever (1.75 points), Grasim Industries (1.28 points) and Bharti Airtel (1.24 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (2.03%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.58%), I C I C I Bank (1.48%), Hindalco Industries (1.42%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.38%), and G A I L (India) (1.11%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.46%), Reliance Industries (0.74%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.41%), State Bank Of India (0.36%), Hindustan Unilever (0.33%), and Bharti Airtel (0.24%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.87% and 0.83% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.26%), Aban Offshore (1.04%), Alok Industries (0.52%), A B G Shipyard (0.29%) and A I A Engineering (0.25%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (2.71%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.09%), Trident (0.75%), Aarti Industries (0.29%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.1%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.26%), Aban Offshore (1.04%), Alok Industries (0.52%), A B G Shipyard (0.29%) and A I A Engineering (0.25%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (2.71%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.09%), Trident (0.75%), Aarti Industries (0.29%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.1%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at 2,012.01, up by 21.30 points or by 1.07%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.58%), G M R Infrastructure (1.5%), Adani Power (1.1%), Reliance Infrastructure (1.09%) and Crompton Greaves (0.15%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,570.25, up by 61.13 points or by 0.94%. The major gainers were Whirlpool Of India (1.36%), Bajaj Electricals (1.05%), Titan Industries (0.98%), Blue Star (0.49%) and Gitanjali Gems (0.3%).
The Realty index was at 1,691.97, up by 15.28 points or by 0.91%. The major gainers were Oberoi Realty (1.58%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.05%), D L F (0.99%), D B Realty (0.86%) and Sunteck Realty (0.11%).
On the other hand, the HC index was at 6,754.31, down by 7.2 points or by 0.11%. The major losers were Aurobindo Pharma (1.27%), Ipca Laboratories (1.2%), Biocon (1.09%), Lupin (0.85%) and Glenmark Pharmaceutical (0.38%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,341 advances against 600 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 183.14 million. It was followed by United Spirits (Rs. 115.82 million), I C I C I Bank (Rs. 88.37 million) and Hexaware Technologies (Rs. 78.58 million).
The volume chart was led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 1.17 million shares. It was followed by Prraneta Industries (1.12 million), Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.74 million) and I F C I (0.74 million).
