NSE NIFTY LIVE TIPS 24 APR 2012


SENSEX FLAT WITH NEGATIVE BIAS AT OPEN

Indian markets bounced back in early trade on Tuesday snapping earlier losses. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 58.07 points or 0.34% at 17,154.75, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 15.30 points or 0.29%, at 5,215.90.
Sensex was trading down 12.06 points or 0.07% at 17,084.62 with 24 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 13.35 points or 0.26% at 5,187.25 with 41 components falling.
Sensex Movers
Bharti Airtel contributed fall of 25.64 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (23.71 points), I T C (22.5 points), Infosys (8.43 points) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (7.35 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed rise of 64.04 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Wipro (5.45 points), Grasim Industries (1.79 points), State Bank Of India (1.73 points) and Hindalco Industries (0.83 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (8.54%), Wipro (1.78%), Cipla (0.43%), Hindalco Industries (0.42%), State Bank Of India (0.23%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.03%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (5.07%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.58%), Reliance Industries (1.54%), I T C (1.43%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.33%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.25%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.11% and 0.22% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alok Industries (1.84%), Hexaware Technologies (1.08%), Aban Offshore (0.67%), Aurobindo Pharma (0.66%) and Arvind (0.3%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (1.68%), Alembic (1.25%), Ajanta Pharma (0.56%), Ahmednagar Forgings (0.4%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.27%).
Sectors in Limelight
The IT index was at 5,413.02, up by 112.40 points or by 2.12%. The major gainers were H C L Technologies (1.55%), Hexaware Technologies (1.08%), Oracle Financial Services Software (0.9%), Tech Mahindra (0.12%) and Mphasis (0.03%).
The TECk index was at 3,185.35, up by 29.07 points or by 0.92%. The major gainers were H C L Technologies (1.55%), Oracle Financial Services Software (0.9%), Deccan Chronicle Holdings (0.56%), G T L (0.52%) and Mphasis (0.03%).
The FMCG index was at 4,722.40, down by 32.04 points or by 0.67%. The major losers were I T C (1.43%), Jubilant FoodWorks (0.31%), Dabur India (0.27%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.21%) and Hindustan Unilever (0.02%).The Oil & Gas index was at 7,900.88, down by 36.7 points or by 0.46%. The major losers were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (0.63%), Cairn India (0.62%), G A I L (India) (0.31%), Gujarat State Petronet (0.29%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.2%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 438 advances against 496 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 188.04 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 49.02 million), Infosys (Rs. 39.98 million) and Bharti Airtel (Rs. 31.00 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 0.60 million shares. It was followed by Lanco Infratech (0.34 million), Idea Cellular (0.29 million) and Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (0.28 million).
