SENSEX TRADES UP 75 POINTS; AUTO, CAPITAL GOODS LEAD

Indian markets gained in early trade on Wednesday tracking positive Asian markets. Capital goods, auto and consumer durable stocks were in the forefront.
Sensex was trading up 74.51 points or 0.44% at 16,934.31 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 22.60 points or 0.44% at 5,126.45 with 34 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 44.16 points or 0.26% at 16,903.96, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 10.70 points or 0.21%, at 5,114.55.
Sensex Movers
Tata Motors contributed rise of 15.32 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (14.05 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (10.15 points), Larsen & Toubro (9.35 points) and Reliance Industries (8.27 points).
However, I T C contributed fall of 13.18 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (5.12 points), Infosys (5.01 points), H D F C Bank (4.97 points) and Bharti Airtel (3.34 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (2.85%), Dr Reddy`s Laboratories (2.28%), Jindal Steel & Power (2.21%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.89%), Hero Motocorp (1.84%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.51%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.58%), I T C (0.82%), Bharti Airtel (0.68%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.58%), H D F C Bank (0.41%), and Hindalco Industries (0.37%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.69% and 0.85% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (1.53%), Aban Offshore (1.35%), A I A Engineering (0.92%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.72%) and A B G Shipyard (0.24%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (1.46%), Aarti Industries (1.26%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.95%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.84%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.78%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (1.53%), Aban Offshore (1.35%), A I A Engineering (0.92%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.72%) and A B G Shipyard (0.24%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (1.46%), Aarti Industries (1.26%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.95%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.84%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.78%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Auto index was at 9,288.87, up by 112.00 points or by 1.22%. The major gainers were Hero Motocorp (1.84%), Bharat Forge (1.11%), Exide Industries (1.01%), Ashok Leyland (0.8%) and Cummins India (0.28%).
The Capital Goods index was at 9,588.07, up by 108.25 points or by 1.14%. The major gainers were Alstom Projects India (1.53%), A B B (1.37%), A I A Engineering (0.92%), BEML (0.49%) and Bharat Electronics (0.41%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,201.72, up by 67.91 points or by 1.11%. The major gainers were Rajesh Exports (2.04%), Bajaj Electricals (1.53%), Whirlpool Of India (0.75%), Gitanjali Gems (0.18%) and Blue Star (0.03%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 5,701.10, down by 10.66 points or by 0.19%. The major losers were Tata Consultancy Services (0.58%) and Infosys (0.34%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,452 advances against 690 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 280.08 million. It was followed by Educomp Solutions (Rs. 266.08 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 167.55 million) and Wockhardt (Rs. 142.60 million).
The volume chart was led by Manappuram Finance with trades of over 4.16 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (2.58 million), Lanco Infratech (1.89 million) and Educomp Solutions (1.77 million).
