SENSEX TRADES UP 142 PTS; POWER, METAL, REALTY RISE

Indian markets continued to gain for the sixth day on Monday.  Sensex was trading up 142.05 points or 0.85% at 16,860.92 with 27 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 47.80 points or 0.94% at 5,116.15 with 46 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 86.02 points or 0.51% at 16,804.89, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 28.35 points or 0.56%, at 5,096.70.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of 25.6 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (13.16 points), Infosys (11.4 points), State Bank Of India (10.33 points) and Tata Motors (8.47 points).
However, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation contributed fall of 1.02 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (0.67 points), Tata Consultancy Services (0.63 points), Wipro (0.73 points) and D L F (0.77 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sterlite Industries (India) (4.03%), Tata Power Company (3.45%), Bajaj Auto (2.44%), I C I C I Bank (2.26%), Tata Steel (1.73%), and G A I L (India) (1.63%).
On the other hand, Cipla (0.65%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.15%), and I T C (0.04%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at 1,909.78, up by 32.71 points or by 1.74%. The major gainers were Reliance Infrastructure (3.93%), Adani Power (3.83%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.51%), A B B (1.08%) and Crompton Greaves (0.29%).
The Metal index was at 10,479.16, up by 171.02 points or by 1.66%. The major gainers were Hindalco Industries (1.5%), Coal India (1.41%), Hindustan Zinc (1.39%), Bhushan Steel (0.7%) and Jindal Steel & Power (0.66%).
The Realty index was at 1,674.69, up by 23.83 points or by 1.44%. The major gainers were Anant Raj Industries (5.91%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (3.37%), Godrej Properties (0.96%), D L F (0.79%) and Sunteck Realty (0.28%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,117.91, up by 86.08 points or by 1.43%. The major gainers were Bajaj Electricals (4.3%), Rajesh Exports (2.36%), Whirlpool Of India (1.73%), T T K Prestige (1.55%) and Titan Industries (1.36%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,259 advances against 467 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Nippo Batteries Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 575.35 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 194.93 million), Strides Arcolab (Rs. 175.45 million) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 119.45 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 1.35 million shares. It was followed by Nippo Batteries Company (1.25 million), Spicejet (1.23 million) and Cals Refineries (1.14 million).
