SENSEX TRADES UP 128 POINTS ABOVE 16,100

Indian
markets gained in early trade on Tuesday tracking positive Asian markets. All sectoral indices are
trading positive with power, capital
goods and consumer durables leading the space.
Sensex was trading up
128.34 points or 0.80% at 16,116.74 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the
Nifty was trading higher by 39.30 points or 0.81% at 4,887.45 with 40
components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark
index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 76.97 points or
0.48% at 16,065.37, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of
21.30 points or 0.44%, at 4,869.45.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries
contributed rise of 18.07 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank
(17.21 points), State Bank Of India (12.86 points), Larsen & Toubro (11.29
points) and I C I C I Bank (8.99 points).
However, Bharti Airtel
contributed fall of 2.21 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors
(1.67 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.25 points), D L F (0.98
points) and Infosys (0.32 points).
Biggest gainers in the
30-share index were Hindalco Industries (2.78%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(2.03%), State Bank Of India (1.96%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.74%), G A
I L (India) (1.74%), and H D F C Bank (1.55%).
On the
other hand, D L F (1.05%), Bharti Airtel (0.46%), Tata Motors (0.33%),
Bajaj Auto (0.24%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.20%), and Infosys
Technologies (0.02%) were the biggest losers in the
Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap
Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining
1.16% and 0.93% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (2.06%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.61%), Aban Offshore (1.27%), Allcargo Logistics (0.45%) and Alok Industries (0.27%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Action Construction Equipment (1.6%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.06%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.94%), Aarti Industries (0.74%) and Trident (0.21%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (2.06%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.61%), Aban Offshore (1.27%), Allcargo Logistics (0.45%) and Alok Industries (0.27%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Action Construction Equipment (1.6%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.06%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.94%), Aarti Industries (0.74%) and Trident (0.21%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at
1,795.50, up by 28.80 points or by 1.63%. The major gainers were Crompton
Greaves (2.11%), Reliance Infrastructure (2.11%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(2.03%), Adani Power (1.42%) and A B B (0.74%).
The Capital Goods
index was at 8,871.32, up by 140.65 points or by 1.61%. The major gainers were
Crompton Greaves (2.11%), Alstom Projects India (2.06%), Bharat Heavy
Electricals (2.03%), BEML (0.77%) and A B B (0.74%).
The Consumer Durables
index was at 6,067.21, up by 91.28 points or by 1.53%. The major gainers were
Bajaj Electricals (1.23%), Rajesh Exports (1.13%), Whirlpool Of India (1.02%),
Blue Star (0.91%) and Gitanjali Gems (0.76%).
The Metal index was at
10,017.43, up by 142.24 points or by 1.44%. The major gainers were Hindalco
Industries (2.78%), Hindustan Zinc (1.25%), JSW Steel (1.17%), Coal India
(1.14%) and Jindal Steel & Power (0.26%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,386 advances against 641
declines.
Value and Volume
Toppers
State Bank Of India
topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 368.69 million. It was
followed by Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering
Company (Rs. 258.56 million), Tube Investments of India (Rs. 249.36 million)
and Tata Motors (Rs. 238.84 million).
The volume chart was
led by Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company with trades of over
3.16 million shares. It was followed by Birla Power Solutions (2.62 million),
Spicejet (2.36 million) and Tube Investments of India (1.82 million).
