SENSEX TRADES DOWN 87 PTS; HDFC, STERLITE, TATA STEEL FALL

Indian markets dropped on Friday erasing earlier gains. Sensex was trading down 86.79 points or 0.51% at 16,945.77 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 28.05 points or 0.54% at 5,136.95 with 40 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 149.82 points or 0.88% at 16,882.74, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 63.25 points or 1.22%, at 5,101.75.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed fall of 19.26 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (18.94 points), Reliance Industries (18.17 points), H D F C Bank (7.94 points) and I C I C I Bank (7.44 points).
However, Hindustan Unilever contributed rise of 3.06 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (2.99 points), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.51 points), Maruti Suzuki India (1.65 points) and Hero Motocorp (1.4 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Cipla (2.08%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.87%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.66%), Hero Honda Motors (0.60%), Hindustan Unilever (0.53%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.34%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.68%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.61%), Tata Steel (1.43%), Hindalco Industries (1.36%), Infosys Technologies (1.33%), and Reliance Industries (1.18%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Midcap index was at 6000.39 down by 2.09 points or by 0.03%.
The major losers were Amtek Auto (1.21%), Aban Offshore (0.81%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.8%), Alstom Projects India (0.64%) and Allcargo Logistics (0.08%).

Sectors in Limelight
The Metal index was at 10,404.59, down by 96.15 points or by 0.92%. The major losers were Hindalco Industries (1.36%), JSW Steel (1.1%), Hindustan Zinc (0.79%), Bhushan Steel (0.63%) and Jindal Steel & Power (0.42%).
The Oil & Gas index was at 7,843.74, down by 64.27 points or by 0.81%. The major losers were Cairn India (1.89%), Reliance Industries (1.18%), G A I L (India) (0.84%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.67%) and Oil India (0.55%).
The Realty index was at 1,614.03, down by 10.23 points or by 0.63%. The major losers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.07%), D L F (1.01%), Godrej Properties (0.81%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.6%) and D B Realty (0.12%).
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 6,203.88, up by 26.99 points or by 0.44%. The major gainers were Titan Industries (0.91%), C.Mahendra Exports (0.65%), Gitanjali Gems (0.12%) and Videocon Industries (0.03%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 794 advances against 886 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 244.88 million. It was followed by ACC (Rs. 100.20 million), Manappuram Finance (Rs. 99.41 million) and Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 98.52 million).
The volume chart was led by Manappuram Finance with trades of over 4.27 million shares. It was followed by Lanco Infratech (1.44 million), Cals Refineries (1.40 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (1.20 million).
