SENSEX ENDS MARGINALLY UP

Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex
and the Nifty, ended the session flat on Tuesday on fresh buying by funds and
retail investors in select stocks amid firm global cues.
Asian and European stocks were up
amid rumours that policy makers will take steps to stimulate economic growth.
The 30-share BSE index Sensex was up
32.24 points or 0.2 per cent at 16,020.64 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was
up 15.15 points or 0.31 per cent at 4,863.30.
Volume toppers were SBI, Tata
Motors, Infosys, L&T and ICICI Bank. Among 30-share Sensex, Hindalco,
L&T, NTPC, SBI and BHEL were the top performers. Tata Motors, ITC, Bharti
Airtel, DLF and Coal India were the major losers.
Among BSE sectoral indices, capital
goods, banking, power and oil & gas stocks were the major gainers; Realty,
FMCG, consumer durables and metal stocks were the major losers.
