SENSEX DIPS 106 POINTS; CD, REALTY, POWER FALL

Indian
markets continue to trade weak amid global sell-off. Consumer durables,
realty and FMCG stocks lost ground.
Sensex was trading
down 106.08 points or 0.66% at 15,859.08 with 28 components falling. Meanwhile,
the Nifty was trading lower by 43.10 points or 0.89% at 4,798.50 with 47
components falling.
The 30-share benchmark
index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 156.28 points or 0.98% at 15,808.88,
while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 44.30 points or 0.91%,
at 4,797.30.
Sensex Movers
I T C contributed fall
of 22.28 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services
(11.39 points), State Bank Of India (10.88 points), Bharti Airtel (10.69
points) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (10.62 points).
However, Tata Motors
contributed rise of 7.29 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil &
Natural Gas Corporation (4.81 points), Jaiprakash Associates (0.49 points),
Hero Motocorp (0.59 points) and Reliance Communications (0.63 points).
Major gainers in the
30-share index were Tata Motors (1.27%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation
(0.77%).
On the other hand, D L
F (4.25%), G A I L (India) (3.04%), Bharti Airtel (2.31%), Hindalco Industries
(2.23%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.97%), and NTPC (1.97%) were the biggest
losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap
Space
The BSE Midcap index
was at 5772.78 down by 48.85 points or by 0.84%.
The major losers were Aban Offshore (2.46%), Alstom Projects India (2.21%), A I A Engineering (1.05%), A B G Shipyard (0.62%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.6%).

index was at 5,989.54, down by 166.22 points or by 2.7%. The major losers were
Bajaj Electricals (4.59%), C.Mahendra Exports (2.77%), Blue Star (1.53%),
Rajesh Exports (1.02%) and Whirlpool Of India (0.41%).
The Realty index was
at 1,521.48, down by 31.22 points or by 2.01%. The major losers were D L F
(4.25%), D B Realty (2.5%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (2.2%),
Phoenix Mills (1.23%) and Anant Raj Industries (0.98%).
The Power index was at
1,748.17, down by 20.56 points or by 1.16%. The major losers were Adani Power
(2.41%), Reliance Infrastructure (2.17%), Crompton Greaves (1.3%), Bharat Heavy
Electricals (0.44%) and A B B (0.25%).
On the other hand, the
Auto index was at 8,684.69, up by 4.39 points or by 0.05%. The major gainers
were Tata Motors (1.27%), Ashok Leyland (1%) and Exide Industries (0.6%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was
negative with 762 advances against 1,398 declines.
Value and Volume
Toppers
Indraprastha Gas
topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 413.76 million. It was
followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 317.03 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 315.41
million) and Wockhardt (Rs. 162.02 million).
The volume chart was
led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 1.96 million shares. It was followed
by Cals Refineries (1.84 million), Indraprastha Gas (1.64 million) and
Kingfisher Airlines (1.48 million).
