SENSEX RISES IN EARLY TRADE

Indian markets continued to gain in early trade for the
second day on Tuesday. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE
Sensex opened with a gain of 83.20 points or 0.51% at 16,500.04, while
the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 19.70
points or 0.40%, at 5,005.35.
Sensex was trading up
60.07 points or 0.37% at 16,476.91 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the
Nifty was trading higher by 10.55 points or 0.21% at 4,996.20 with 40
components gaining.
Sensex Movers
Tata Motors
contributed rise of 12.51 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (5.03 points), Reliance Industries (3.87
points), Larsen & Toubro (2.85 points) and I T C (2.71 points).
However, Infosys
contributed fall of 2.76 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy
Services (2.62 points), Housing Development Finance
Corporation (2.57 points), Hindustan Unilever (1.62 points) and Reliance
Communications (1.1 points).
Major gainers in the
30-share index were Tata Motors (2.10%), Coal India (1.33%), Tata Power Company
(1.03%), G A I L (India) (0.93%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(0.81%), and State Bank Of India (0.79%).
On the other hand,
Tata Consultancy Services (0.30%), Hindustan Unilever (0.29%), Hindalco
Industries (0.26%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.23%), and
Infosys Technologies (0.19%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap
Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining
0.16% and 0.21% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Anant Raj Industries (1.83%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.44%), Amtek India (1.28%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.69%) and Aban Offshore (0.44%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Genesys International Corporation (2.11%), Advanta India (1.19%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.54%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.22%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.05%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Anant Raj Industries (1.83%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.44%), Amtek India (1.28%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.69%) and Aban Offshore (0.44%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Genesys International Corporation (2.11%), Advanta India (1.19%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.54%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.22%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.05%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Auto index was at
9,484.64, up by 84.73 points or by 0.90%. The major gainers were Ashok Leyland
(1.01%), Bharat Forge (0.56%), Bajaj Auto (0.15%), Apollo Tyres (0.11%) and
Exide Industries (0.08%).
The Power index was at
1,838.92, up by 12.68 points or by 0.69%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy
Electricals (0.81%), Crompton Greaves (0.64%), A B B (0.53%), G M R Infrastructure
(0.48%) and GVK Power & Infrastructure (0.42%).
The PSU index was at
6,845.32, up by 46.46 points or by 0.68%. The major gainers were Bank Of
Baroda(0.82%), Bank Of Maharashtra (0.81%), Allahabad Bank (0.78%), Andhra Bank (0.56%) and Bank Of India
(0.18%).
The Consumer Durables
index was at 6,482.21, up by 42.80 points or by 0.66%. The major gainers were T
T K Prestige (0.8%), Videocon Industries (0.55%), Titan Industries (0.51%), V I
P Industries (0.47%) and Whirlpool Of India (0.41%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was
negative with 572 advances against 312 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India
topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 64.38 million. It was
followed by Godrej Properties (Rs. 46.49 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 42.01
million) and Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 20.63 million).
The volume chart was
led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 1.92 million shares. It was followed
by Suzlon Energy (0.27 million), Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision (0.21 million)
and Lanco Infratech (0.20 million).
