SENSEX TRADES UP 86 POINTS; BANKEX, POWER, METAL
RISE

Indian markets gained
in early trade on Monday. Sensex
was trading up 85.81 points or 0.53% at 16,303.63 with
25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 30.60 points
or 0.62% at 4,951.00 with 40 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark
index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 72.00 points or
0.44% at 16,289.82, while the broad based NSE Nifty
started with a rise of 11.30 points or 0.23%, at 4,931.70.
Sensex Movers
I T C contributed rise
of 20.39 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (15.09
points), State Bank Of India (13.46 points), I C I C I Bank (11.09 points) and Bharti Airtel (7.01
points).
However, Hindustan
Unilever contributed fall of 5.51 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil
& Natural Gas Corporation (5.23 points), Tata Consultancy
Services (2.7 points), D L F (0.13 points) and Infosys (0.3 points).
Major gainers in the
30-share index were State Bank Of India (2.14%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(1.70%), Bharti Airtel (1.47%), Hindalco Industries (1.39%), Mahindra &
Mahindra (1.31%), and I T C (1.29%).
On the other hand,
Hindustan Unilever (0.99%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.82%), G A I L
(India) (0.62%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.32%), and D L F (0.13%) were the
major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap
Space
The BSE Mid and small
caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.63% and 0.64%
respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (1.31%), Aban Offshore (0.61%), Alstom Projects India (0.3%), Alok Industries (0.27%) and A B G Shipyard (0.04%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (1.72%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.49%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.1%), Action Construction Equipment (1.06%) and Aarti Industries (0.74%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (1.31%), Aban Offshore (0.61%), Alstom Projects India (0.3%), Alok Industries (0.27%) and A B G Shipyard (0.04%).

at 11,006.83, up by 107.62 points or by 0.99%. The major gainers were Bank Of
India(1.5%), Bank Of Baroda (1.32%), Federal Bank
(1.26%), Canara Bank (0.67%) and H D F C Bank (0.35%).
The Power index was at
1,798.62, up by 13.92 points or by 0.78%. The major gainers were Reliance
Infrastructure (1.82%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.7%), GVK Power &
Infrastructure (0.85%), A B B (0.7%) and Adani Power (0.59%).
The Metal index was at
10,157.04, up by 68.43 points or by 0.68%. The major gainers were Hindalco
Industries (1.39%), Hindustan Zinc (0.77%), Coal India (0.72%), Bhushan Steel
(0.41%) and Jindal Steel & Power (0.01%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was
negative with 1,169 advances against 592 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India
topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 318.88 million. It was followed by Reliance Communications
(Rs. 72.83 million), Jubilant FoodWorks (Rs. 72.29 million) and Tata Steel (Rs.
60.40 million).
The volume chart was
led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 1.53 million shares. It was followed
by Suzlon Energy (1.15 million), Reliance Communications (1.08 million) and Spicejet (1.01 million).
