SHARE MARKET TIPS 26 APR 2012


SENSEX TRADES FLAT; CONSUMER DURABLES, METAL RISE

Indian equities bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses.  Sensex was trading up 17.02 points or 0.10% at 17,168.31 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.75 points or 0.07% at 5,205.75 with 27 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 39.73 points or 0.23% at 17,191.02, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 12.75 points or 0.25%, at 5,214.75.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 11.49 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (5.02 points), Mahindra & Mahindra (4.1 points), Tata Consultancy Services (2.67 points) and Larsen & Toubro (2.6 points).
However, Hindustan Unilever contributed fall of 5.77 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.67 points), Hero Motocorp (2.24 points), State Bank Of India (2.08 points) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.04 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (1.04%), Cipla (0.91%), Tata Power Company (0.90%), Infosys Technologies (0.83%), Tata Steel (0.60%), and Jindal Steel & Power (0.58%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (1.34%), Hindustan Unilever (1.07%), Hero Honda Motors (0.87%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.82%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.81%), and Sterlite Industries (India) (0.79%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.13% and 0.21% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (1.15%), Amara Raja Batteries (0.75%), Aban Offshore (0.63%), Alok Industries (0.53%) and Amtek India (0.37%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Adhunik Metaliks (4.03%), Advanta India (3.28%), Action Construction Equipment (1.61%), Trident (1.58%) and Ahmednagar Forgings (0.03%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,564.97, up by 51.83 points or by 0.80%. The major gainers were C.Mahendra Exports (2.16%), Titan Industries (1.34%), Whirlpool Of India (1.26%), T T K Prestige (0.69%) and Rajesh Exports (0.15%).
The Metal index was at 11,020.92, up by 45.25 points or by 0.41%. The major gainers were Bhushan Steel (1.66%), Hindustan Zinc (0.99%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.58%), Hindalco Industries (0.25%) and Coal India (0.19%).
The Realty index was at 1,697.79, up by 6.05 points or by 0.36%. The major gainers were Anant Raj Industries (2.86%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.31%), Sunteck Realty (0.2%), D B Realty (0.13%) and Godrej Properties (0.12%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 4,779.53, down by 14.75 points or by 0.31%. The major losers were Nestle India (3.16%), Hindustan Unilever (1.07%), Godrej Consumer Products (0.54%) and Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.24%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 846 advances against 790 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 4,431.78 million. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (Rs. 275.56 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 218.55 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 137.76 million).
