NIFTY STRUGGLES AT 5250; JP ASSOCIATES, HINDALCO TOP LOSERS

The BSE Sensex was down 223 points or 1.18% to 17,263 due to fall in 23 components. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty was struggling at 5250 level, which fell 75 points to 5,248, weighed down by banks, metals, oil & gas, capital goods and auto stocks.
Among largecaps, Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco, Cairn India, IDFC, SAIL, BHEL, Jindal Steel, Sterlite Industries and Maruti Suzuki topped the selling list, falling 3-4%.
Index heavyweights ICICI Bank, L&T and State Bank of India were down 2-2.6%. Reliance Industries, ONGC, ITC and Infosys dropped 0.6-1%.
However, shares of HUL, Bajaj Auto, Cipla and DLF gained nearly 1%.
The market breadth was in favour of declines; about 1014 shares advanced while 1515 shares declined on the BSE.
