SENSEX MARGINALLY UP; METAL STOCKS GAIN

Indian markets bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses. Sensex was trading up 3.64 points or 0.02% at 17,154.93 with 12 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 2.35 points or 0.05% at 5,199.65 with 34 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 39.73 points or 0.23% at 17,191.02, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 12.75 points or 0.25%, at 5,214.75.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 13.78 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (7.4 points), Tata Consultancy Services (5.11 points), Tata Steel (4.11 points) and I C I C I Bank (3.27 points).
However, Hero Motocorp contributed fall of 6.62 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (5.9 points), Hindustan Unilever (5.89 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.17 points) and Tata Motors (2.8 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Jindal Steel & Power (2.93%), Tata Steel (1.09%), Infosys Technologies (1.00%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.68%), I T C (0.47%), and I C I C I Bank (0.28%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (2.70%), Hero Honda Motors (2.57%), D L F (1.75%), Bajaj Auto (1.65%), Hindustan Unilever (1.10%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.01%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts declining -0.19% and -0.07% respectively.
The major losers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (2.03%), Allcargo Logistics (1.64%), CORE Education and Technologies (1.2%), Alok Industries (0.26%) and A I A Engineering (0.2%).
The major losers in the BSE Smallcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.05%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.49%), Trident (0.75%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.27%) and A B G Infralogistics (0.03%).
The major losers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (2.03%), Allcargo Logistics (1.64%), CORE Education and Technologies (1.2%), Alok Industries (0.26%) and A I A Engineering (0.2%).
The major losers in the BSE Smallcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.05%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.49%), Trident (0.75%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.27%) and A B G Infralogistics (0.03%).
Sectors in Limelight
The PSU index was at 7,153.47, down by 47.05 points or by 0.65%. The major losers were Allahabad Bank(3.4%), Bank Of India (3.24%), Andhra Bank (2.03%), Bank Of Maharashtra (1.16%) and Balmer Lawrie & Company (0.23%).
The Auto index was at 10,534.01, down by 68.69 points or by 0.65%. The major losers were Hero Motocorp (2.57%), Cummins India (1.68%), Bajaj Auto (1.65%), Exide Industries (0.45%) and Maruti Suzuki India (0.09%).
The Realty index was at 1,682.49, down by 9.25 points or by 0.55%. The major losers were D L F (1.75%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.04%), Parsvnath Developers (0.97%), Godrej Properties (0.37%) and Sunteck Realty (0.34%).
On the other hand, the Metal index was at 11,052.22, up by 76.55 points or by 0.70%. The major gainers were Jindal Steel & Power (2.93%), Bhushan Steel (2.13%), JSW Steel (1.78%), Hindustan Zinc (0.87%) and Sesa Goa (0.35%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,034 advances against 1,349 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,272.05 million. It was followed by United Spirits (Rs. 449.69 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 372.32 million) and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (Rs. 282.20 million).
The volume chart was led by Yes Bank with trades of over 14.75 million shares. It was followed by Lanco Infratech (2.48 million), K S Oils (1.58 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (1.50 million).
