NSE NIFTY LIVE TIPS 26 APR 2012


NIFTY OPENS VOLATILE AHEAD OF F&O EXPIRY; BHARTI, L&T GAIN

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened flat on Thursday, ahead of Nifty's expiry session for April. Trade in Asian markets were mixed even though US stocks finished near the highs of the day on Wednesday. Private banks and metals gained while FMCG stocks were under pressure.
The BSE benchmark was up 20.31 points at 17,171.60 and the NSE benchmark rose 3.75 points to 5,205.75.
Frontliners like State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, Ambuja Cements, Sesa Goa, Hindalco, Sterlite, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Cipla, Power Grid, ACC and Tata Power gained in early trade.
However, Coal India, Ranbaxy Labs, BPCL, BHEL, Axis Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs, HCL Tech, ITC and Maruti Suzuki were under pressure.
Even broader markets were flat and the market breadth was mildly in favour of advances. In the second line shares, Dena Bank, UCO Bank and Syndicate Bank fell 1-3%.
Yes Bank dropped nearly 2% as CNBC-TV18 reported that Rabobank is going to sell 1.5 crore shares of the bank via block deals at Rs 360/share today. Bharat Electronics tanked 5% after the company deferred plan to consider buyback of shares.
Idea rose 2.4% ahead of fourth quarter earnings. Essar Shipping shot up 7% and GE Shipping gained 2%. Kingfisher Airlines and United Spirits were up 1.5% each.
