FREE NSE NIFTY TIPS 23 APR 2012


SENSEX FALLS 183 POINTS; REALTY, IT, POWER HIT MOST

Indian equities fell further on the back of negative opening of European markets, as China`s Shanghai lost over 1% after the HSBC PMI came in at 49.1 in April as against 48.3 in March. Realty, IT and Power stocks lost ground. 
At 1.54 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 183.05 points or 1.05% at 17,190.79 with 24 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 63.60 points or 1.20% at 5,227.25 with 45 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 26.08 points or 0.15% at 17,347.76, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 13.45 points or 0.25%, at 5,277.40.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed fall of 50.38 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (21.38 points), Bharti Airtel (19.07 points), Larsen & Toubro (13.27 points) and Tata Motors (12.17 points).
However, Reliance Industries contributed rise of 16.04 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.64 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.87 points), Tata Steel (0.68 points) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.1 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (1.03%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.24%), Tata Steel (0.18%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.07%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.03%), and Wipro (0.02%).
On the other hand, D L F (4.23%), Hindalco Industries (4.04%), Bharti Airtel (3.75%), Infosys Technologies (3.64%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.47%), and State Bank Of India (2.81%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Midcap index was at 6340.47 down by 77.25 points or by 1.2%.
The major losers were Amara Raja Batteries (2.06%), CORE Education and Technologies (1.53%), Allcargo Logistics (1.08%), Amtek Auto (0.81%) and Alok Industries (0.78%).
The BSE Smallcap index was at 6833.49 down by 67.09 points or by 0.97%.
The major losers were INEOS ABS (India) (3.47%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (2.18%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.03%), A B G Infralogistics (0.96%) and Aarti Industries (0.51%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 1,717.77, down by 52.81 points or by 2.98%. The major losers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (4.54%), D L F (4.23%), D B Realty (4.18%), Godrej Properties (0.26%) and Anant Raj Industries (0.17%).
The TECk index was at 3,179.63, down by 75.08 points or by 2.31%. The major losers were Bharti Airtel (3.75%), Mphasis (3.12%), Reliance MediaWorks (2.26%), Dish TV India (1.92%) and Oracle Financial Services Software (1.24%).
The IT index was at 5,335.92, down by 125.01 points or by 2.29%. The major losers were Mphasis (3.12%), Hexaware Technologies (2.17%), H C L Technologies (1.62%), CORE Education and Technologies (1.53%) and Oracle Financial Services Software (1.24%).
On the other hand, the Oil & Gas index was at 7,973.29, up by 29.42 points or by 0.37%. The major gainers were Reliance Industries (1.03%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.24%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,022 advances against 1,707 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 904.11 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 554.42 million), Infosys (Rs. 550.72 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 348.62 million).
The volume chart was led by Spicejet with trades of over 7.05 million shares. It was followed by Acil Cotton Industries (6.04 million), Kingfisher Airlines (5.24 million) and Cals Refineries (4.89 million).
