Mentha oil futures succumb to profit booking Mar-12-2012

Mentha oil futures succumbed to profit booking tracing the slack in the mandis, which dragged the price of mentha lower by Rs 30-40 per kg in different spot markets. In Chandausi mentha oil was being offered at Rs 2,200 per kg, in Sambhal at Rs 2,170 a kg, in Barabanki at Rs 2,050 a kg and in Rampur, mentha oil (68 GLC) quoted at Rs 2,170 per kg.
However, the overall demand for the commodity remains highly bullish due to good export and domestic demand amidst low stocks and lower production.
The contract for March delivery was trading at Rs 2186.90, down by 4.00% or Rs 91.10 from its previous closing of Rs 2278.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3632 lots.
The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 2202.20, down by 4.00% or Rs 91.80 from its previous closing of Rs 2294.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 1048 lots on MCX.
