Sensex down 73 points; HDFC, DLF major losers

Indian markets dropped on Wednesday due to profit booking. At 9.59 am., the Sensex was trading down 73.08 points or 0.43% at 17,120.47 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 19.05 points or 0.37% at 5,180.20 with 30 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a decline of 13.91 points or 0.08% at 17,179.64, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 1.10 points or 0.02%, at 5,198.15.
Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 29.37 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (22.84 points), I C I C I Bank (16.33 points), H D F C Bank (13.27 points) and I T C (9.44 points).
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.26% and 0.56% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (4.36%), Alstom Projects India (2.57%), Aban Offshore (1.98%), A I A Engineering (1.53%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.52%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (2.8%), Adhunik Metaliks (2.43%), Aarti Industries (1.17%), Action Construction Equipment (0.72%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.36%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (4.36%), Alstom Projects India (2.57%), Aban Offshore (1.98%), A I A Engineering (1.53%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.52%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (2.8%), Adhunik Metaliks (2.43%), Aarti Industries (1.17%), Action Construction Equipment (0.72%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.36%).
