Goldennifty analyzing team said: Indian markets continue to trade on a flat note with positive bias amid volatility. Metal, Consumer Durables and Auto stock tips gained ground.
Sensex was trading up 41.45 points or 0.23% at 17,872.20 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty was trading higher by 10.00 points or 0.18% at 5,422.35 with 32 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a decline of 13.16 points or 0.07% at 17,817.59, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 12.55 points or 0.23%, at 5,399.80.
Sensex Movers
Tata Steel contributed rise of 17.46 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (10.51 points), Larsen & Toubro (10.48 points), Tata Motors (7.05 points) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (6.26 points).
However, Infosys contributed fall of 13.77 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (6.55 points), Tata Consultancy Services (2.69 points), H D F C Bank (2.28 points) and Hindustan Unilever (2.08 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (4.52%), Bharti Airtel (1.69%), Tata Motors (1.34%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.32%), Tata Power Company (1.25%), and Bajaj Auto (1.20%).
On the other hand, Cipla (0.94%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.91%), Infosys Technologies (0.83%), Hindalco Industries (0.63%), I C I C I Bank (0.51%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.39%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), belled the share market tips on a positive note after a rise of 40.36 points, or 1.07% on Thursday. It is currently trading higher by 8.81 points, or 0.23%, at 3,827.84 at 10.04 a.m. after opening at 3,824.05.
Other index like MCXMETAL is trading tips upward by 4.62 points, or 0.09%, at 5,016.26 after opening at 5,009.68. MCXAGRI is trading up 29.60 points, or 0.91%, at 3,268.57 after opening at 3,273.06. Meanwhile MCXENERGY is trading up 3.49 points, or 0.11%, at 3,301.84 after opening at 3,301.49.
Gainers at the MCX were COTTON CAKE AKOLA - August contract, (3.01%) with open interest of 5, Cardamom - July contract, (1.64%) with open interest of 108, Wheat - September contract, (1.38%) with open interest of 13, COPPER1KG - August contract, (0.74%) with open interest of 22,010, and Wheat - August contract, (0.68%) with open interest of 450.

MCX Crude oil again corrected from the $100 a barrel with the losses in Asian equities pulling it lower today, however the losses are limited as the China import data showed that the Chinese oil imports surged to 23.41 million tons in January.
China imported 23.41 million metric tons of MCX Crude oil in January, equivalent to 5.54 million barrels a day, preliminary data from the General Administration of Customs showed Friday.
Imports were 7.4% higher than 21.8 million tons shipped in a year ago. Refined oil product imports totaled 2.95 million tons, while exports totaled 1.86 million tons, the data showed. China exported 310,000 tons of MCX Crude oil in February, preliminary data showed.
Light Sweet oil futures are trading down 40 cents at $ 99.43 per barrel on New York Mercantile Exchange. Oil has been facing immense pressure as soon as it is breaching the $100 - 103 level.
MCX February crude futures may start todays session below Rs 4925 levels with supports expected around Rs 4898 per barrel.

However, Infosys contributed fall of 15.27 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (2.18 points), Maruti Suzuki India (1.45 points), D L F (0.85 points) and Wipro (0.69 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.46%), Tata Power Company (2.42%), Bajaj Auto (1.36%), Hero Honda Motors (1.15%), Bharti Airtel (1.01%), and Tata Motors (0.87%).
On the other hand, Infosys Technologies (0.92%), D L F (0.75%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.67%), Wipro (0.21%), I C I C I Bank (0.17%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.12%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
