Indian equities continues to trade on a strong note on buying seen across all counters. Metal, realty, banking and capital goods led the advance
At 11.45 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 274.84 points or 1.77% at 15,792.76 with 28 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 81.10 points or 1.75% at 4,717.85 with 46 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 122.64 points or 0.79% at 15,640.56, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 39.05 points or 0.84%, at 4,675.80.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 33.63 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (25.97 points), Reliance Industries (21.89 points), Larsen & Toubro (18.1 points) and I T C (15.71 points).
However, Mahindra & Mahindra contributed fall of 5.91 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Grasim Industries (1.45 points), Reliance Communications (0.88 points), ACC (1.33 points) and Jaiprakash Associates (1.78 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (4.54%), Tata Motors (3.73%), Tata Steel (3.44%), Sterlite Industries (India) (3.32%), D L F (3.01%), and Tata Power Company (2.84%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (1.57%), and Bajaj Auto (1.53%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The Midcap and Smallcap index rose 1.44% and 1.57% respectively.
Market Breadth
was positive with 1,617 advances against 509 declines.
Value and Volume ToppersBS
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 297.05 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 193.53 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 171.88 million) and Infosys (Rs. 145.20 million).
The volume chart was led by I F C I with trades of over 1.92 million shares. It was followed by GSS Infotech (1.61 million), Karuturi Global (1.58 million) and Hexaware Technologies (1.28 million)
