SENSEX TRADES DOWN 28 PTS; AUTO STOCKS FALL

Indian markets dropped on Wednesday erasing earlier gains.  Sensex was trading down 27.66 points or 0.16% at 16,835.14 with 17 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 3.95 points or 0.08% at 5,111.95 with 28 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 2.92 points or 0.02% at 16,865.72, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 1.65 points or 0.03%, at 5,117.55.
Sensex Movers
Tata Motors contributed fall of 9.7 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (7 points), H D F C Bank (6.12 points), Reliance Industries (5.73 points) and Maruti Suzuki India (5.65 points).
However, Bharti Airtel contributed rise of 5.13 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (4.39 points), I C I C I Bank (4.2 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.83 points) and Reliance Communications (2.46 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.07%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.98%), Coal India (0.88%), Hindustan Unilever (0.80%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.59%), and Tata Steel (0.58%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (2.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.86%), Tata Motors (1.81%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.11%), Tata Power Company (0.68%), and Hero Honda Motors (0.58%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.28% and 0.51% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alstom Projects India (3.12%), Anant Raj Industries (2.14%), Amtek Auto (0.48%), Amtek India (0.05%) and Amara Raja Batteries (0.03%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Reliance MediaWorks (3.1%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (2.24%), Trident (1.68%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.79%) and Aarti Industries (0.35%).
Sectors in Limelight
The HC index was at 6,570.65, up by 51.08 points or by 0.78%. The major gainers were Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (0.9%), Aurobindo Pharma (0.79%), Cadila Healthcare (0.79%), Biocon (0.53%) and Cipla (0.49%).
The FMCG index was at 4,756.63, up by 27.74 points or by 0.59%. The major gainers were Dabur India (3.06%), Hindustan Unilever (0.8%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.49%), Jubilant FoodWorks (0.44%) and I T C (0.06%).
The IPO index was at 1,475.97, up by 7.49 points or by 0.51%. The major gainers were Claris Lifesciences (1.45%), Coal India (0.88%), Bajaj Corp (0.86%), Career Point (0.5%) and Bedmutha Industries (0.33%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 9,192.93, down by 108.98 points or by 1.17%. The major losers were Maruti Suzuki India (2.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.86%), Bharat Forge (0.98%), Hero Motocorp (0.58%) and Bajaj Auto (0.54%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,002 advances against 681 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Sun TV Network topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 260.96 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 200.28 million), United Spirits (Rs. 198.08 million) and Tata Motors (Rs. 101.17 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 4.08 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (1.67 million), Birla Cotsyn (India) (1.60 million) and Suzlon Energy (1.33 million).
