METAL STOCKS TRACK FALL IN INDUSTRIAL METAL PRICES

Sesa Goa (down 2.81%), Sterlite Industries (down 2.64%), JSW Steel (down 1.99%), Hindalco Industries (down 1.96%), Sail (down 1.93%), Jindal Steel & Power (down 1.8%), Hindustan Zinc (down 1.68%), Tata Steel (down 1.66%), NMDC (down 0.99%) and Bhushan Steel (down 0.06%), edged lower.
The BSE Metal index was down 1.45% at 10,709.37. It underperformed the Sensex, which was down 0.74% at 17,116.59.
The BSE Metal index had underperformed the market over the past one month until 10 April 2012, falling 5.50% compared with the Sensex's 1.48% fall. The index had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 7.78% as against 6.67% rise in the Sensex.
