SENSEX OFF FROM DAY`S HIGH; COAL INDIA, ONGC, DLF GAIN

Indian markets pared some of the earlier gains on Tuesday on concern the RBI may not announce further rate anytime soon. The RBI reduced short term lending and deposits rates by 50 bps in its monetary policy review.
PSU, realty and metal stocks gained. Sensex was trading up 76.01 points or 0.44% at 17,226.96 with 23 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 20.50 points or 0.39% at 5,246.70 with 35 components gaining.

The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 50.02 points or 0.29% at 17,200.97, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 40.40 points or 0.77%, at 5,266.60.
Sensex Movers
Oil & Natural Gas Corporation contributed rise of 17.56 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (11.6 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (7.91 points), Tata Consultancy Services (7.37 points) and State Bank Of India (5.57 points).
However, Reliance Industries contributed fall of 8.69 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (3.73 points), Tata Motors (3.54 points), Infosys (1.43 points) and Maruti Suzuki India (1.21 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (2.62%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.62%), D L F (1.35%), Hero Honda Motors (1.31%), NTPC (1.03%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.98%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (0.97%), Tata Motors (0.58%), Reliance Industries (0.53%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.53%), Tata Power Company (0.15%), and Infosys Technologies (0.10%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Sectors in Limelight
The PSU index was at 7,391.56, up by 70.73 points or by 0.97%. The major gainers were Coal India (2.62%), Canara Bank (0.99%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.49%), Bharat Electronics (0.42%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.04%).
The Metal index was at 11,042.90, up by 84.13 points or by 0.77%. The major gainers were Coal India (2.62%), Hindustan Zinc (1.22%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.58%), Hindalco Industries (0.52%) and NMDC (0.39%).
The Realty index was at 1,795.17, up by 13.70 points or by 0.77%. The major gainers were D L F (1.35%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.21%), Sunteck Realty (0.86%), D B Realty (0.41%) and Godrej Properties (0.28%).
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 6,613.67, down by 59.63 points or by 0.89%. The major losers were Titan Industries (2.29%), V I P Industries (0.92%), T T K Prestige (0.79%), Blue Star (0.39%) and Videocon Industries (0.26%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,277 advances against 1,338 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,343.60 million. It was followed by Gravita India (Rs. 822.44 million), I C I C I Bank (Rs. 711.37 million) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (Rs. 479.90 million).
The volume chart was led by Spicejet with trades of over 8.60 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (6.52 million), Housing Development and Infrastructure (5.46 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (3.35 million).
