SENSEX TRADES UP 100 POINTS; POWER, BANKEX RISE

Indian markets bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At Sensex was trading up 100.94 points or 0.59% at 17,300.34 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 38.25 points or 0.73% at 5,265.10 with 42 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 77.47 points or 0.45% at 17,276.87, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 19.90 points or 0.38%, at 5,246.75.
Sensex Movers
I T C contributed rise of 15.67 points in the Sensex. It was followed by State Bank Of India (14.09 points), I C I C I Bank (13.86 points), Larsen & Toubro (10.8 points) and H D F C Bank (8.3 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 7.12 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (6.47 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.74 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.08 points) and Wipro (1.01 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.23%), Hindalco Industries (1.97%), State Bank Of India (1.93%), Hero Honda Motors (1.64%), Tata Power Company (1.56%), and Tata Steel (1.42%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (0.87%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.76%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.40%), Infosys Technologies (0.39%), and Wipro (0.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.07% and 1.13% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Aban Offshore (1.93%), A I A Engineering (1.67%), Alstom Projects India (1.43%), Alok Industries (1.01%) and Amara Raja Batteries (0.32%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (1.52%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.25%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.23%), Aarti Industries (1.16%) and A B G Infralogistics (1.01%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Aban Offshore (1.93%), A I A Engineering (1.67%), Alstom Projects India (1.43%), Alok Industries (1.01%) and Amara Raja Batteries (0.32%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (1.52%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.25%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.23%), Aarti Industries (1.16%) and A B G Infralogistics (1.01%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at 2,116.54, up by 28.23 points or by 1.35%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.23%), Adani Power (1.62%), Reliance Infrastructure (1.58%), A B B (1.23%) and Crompton Greaves (0.96%).
The Bankex index was at 11,938.75, up by 149.91 points or by 1.27%. The major gainers were Bank Of Baroda(2.16%), Canara Bank (1.71%), Federal Bank (1.41%), Bank Of India (1.4%) and H D F C Bank (0.71%).
The Capital Goods index was at 9,979.83, up by 125.62 points or by 1.27%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.23%), A I A Engineering (1.67%), Alstom Projects India (1.43%), A B B (1.23%) and BEML (0.37%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 5,975.22, down by 16.76 points or by 0.28%. The major losers were Tata Consultancy Services (0.87%), Infosys (0.39%), Wipro (0.31%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.27%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,338 advances against 509 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 272.88 million. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (Rs. 100.26 million), Tata Motors -DVR (Rs. 85.74 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 79.31 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 4.86 million shares. It was followed by Prraneta Industries (3.62 million), Spicejet (1.91 million) and Prime Focus (1.24 million).
