SENSEX PARES SOME GAINS; CD, METAL, AUTO LEAD

Indian markets pared some of its gains in the second half of trading on Wednesday. Consumer durables, metals and auto stocks gained further ground.  
Sensex was trading up 90.14 points or 0.52% at 17,448.08 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 32.10 points or 0.61% at 5,321.80 with 41 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 89.32 points or 0.51% at 17,447.26, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 31.00 points or 0.59%, at 5,320.70.
Sensex Movers
H D F C Bank contributed rise of 16.77 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (10.62 points), Reliance Industries (9.6 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (8.2 points) and I C I C I Bank (8.08 points).
However, I T C contributed fall of 18.86 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (7.64 points), Hindustan Unilever (0.86 points), Reliance Communications (0.78 points) and D L F (0.53 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bajaj Auto (2.84%), Hindalco Industries (2.70%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.85%), Tata Power Company (1.78%), Tata Motors (1.72%), and Wipro (1.66%).
On the other hand, I T C (1.20%), Coal India (0.83%), Infosys Technologies (0.54%), D L F (0.51%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.15%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.90% and 0.85% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (2.22%), Aban Offshore (0.97%), Alok Industries (0.25%), Alstom Projects India (0.1%) and Allcargo Logistics (0.04%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (4.86%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.3%), Aarti Industries (1.27%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.48%) and A B G Infralogistics (0.29%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 6,770.70, up by 79.63 points or by 1.19%. The major gainers were Titan Industries (2.7%), Videocon Industries (0.79%), Blue Star (0.63%), Bajaj Electricals (0.56%) and T T K Prestige (0.51%).
The Auto index was at 10,490.42, up by 118.89 points or by 1.15%. The major gainers were Bajaj Auto (2.84%), Bharat Forge (1.78%), Apollo Tyres (1.09%), Hero Motocorp (0.88%) and Ashok Leyland (0.51%).
The Metal index was at 11,300.33, up by 121.49 points or by 1.09%. The major gainers were Bhushan Steel (3.82%), Hindalco Industries (2.7%), JSW Steel (1.69%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.8%) and Hindustan Zinc (0.48%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 4,762.14, down by 16.77 points or by 0.35%. The major losers were I T C (1.2%), Dabur India (0.63%), Tata Global Beverages (0.59%) and Hindustan Unilever (0.15%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,688 advances against 1,035 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Karur Vysya Bank , The topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 887.98 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 513.27 million), Escorts (Rs. 395.91 million) and Infosys (Rs. 359.86 million).
The volume chart was led by Spicejet with trades of over 7.35 million shares. It was followed by Escorts (5.12 million), GVK Power & Infrastructure (4.08 million) and R E I Agro (3.44 million).
