The Sensex is holding the 16,000 level and Nifty trading above 4,800 on relentless buying seen across counters. Realty, Capital goods and banking stocks rallied further. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high.
At 1.20 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 270.46 points or 1.71% at 16,085.18 with 28 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 80.60 points or 1.70% at 4,823.40 with 46 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 83.60 points or 0.53% at 15,898.32, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 29.05 points or 0.61%, at 4,771.85.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of 44.47 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (30.79 points), State Bank Of India (20.51 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (20.09 points) and Larsen & Toubro (18.74 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 1.56 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Grasim Industries (0.9 points), Tata Power Company (0.79 points), Sterlite Industries (India) (0.63 points) and ACC (1.79 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (3.66%), State Bank Of India (3.37%), Bharti Airtel (3.18%), I C I C I Bank (3.12%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.07%), and Hindalco Industries (2.80%).
On the other hand, Tata Power Company (0.43%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.18%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.75% and 2.23% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (4.57%), A I A Engineering (3.48%), Alstom Projects India (3.08%), Aban Offshore (2.25%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.15%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (8.68%), Aarti Industries (2.52%), Provogue (India) (2.2%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.32%) and Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.89%). www.goldennifty.com
