At 10.05 am., the Sensex was trading up 150.34 points or 0.96% at 15,889.04 with 28 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 55.75 points or 1.18% at 4,769.75 with 46 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 43.47 points or 0.28% at 15,782.17, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 4.15 points or 0.09%, at 4,718.15.
Reliance Industries contributed rise of 16.71 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (15.16 points), Bharti Airtel (14.98 points), H D F C Bank (13.13 points) and Tata Consultancy Services (12.98 points).
However, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation contributed fall of 2.46 points in the Sensex. It was followed by ACC (0.47 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.83 points), Reliance Infrastructure (0.97 points) and Jaiprakash Associates (1.2 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (2.68%), Hero Honda Motors (2.09%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.69%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.54%), Larsen & Toubro (1.52%), and D L F (1.50%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.46%), and Cipla (0.30%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.79% and 0.85% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.38%), Alok Industries (1.42%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.37%), Aban Offshore (1.32%) and A I A Engineering (1.02%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Reliance MediaWorks (2.17%), Provogue (India) (1.27%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.94%), Action Construction Equipment (0.85%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.72%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.38%), Alok Industries (1.42%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.37%), Aban Offshore (1.32%) and A I A Engineering (1.02%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Reliance MediaWorks (2.17%), Provogue (India) (1.27%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.94%), Action Construction Equipment (0.85%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.72%).
The Realty index was at 1,450.95, up by 23.27 points or by 1.63%. The major gainers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.66%), D L F (1.5%), Anant Raj Industries (1.42%), D B Realty (1.04%) and Godrej Properties (0.57%).
The Capital Goods index was at 8,274.16, up by 114.67 points or by 1.41%. The major gainers were Crompton Greaves (3.43%), BGR Energy Systems (1.75%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.34%), BEML (1.05%) and A B B (0.69%).
The TECk index was at 3,369.36, up by 42.05 points or by 1.26%. The major gainers were Idea Cellular (2.86%), Bharti Airtel (2.68%), Reliance MediaWorks (2.17%), Dish TV India (1.63%) and Mphasis (1.11%).
The Auto index was at 8,382.68, up by 101.21 points or by 1.22%. The major gainers were Exide Industries (1.34%), Bharat Forge (1.13%), Apollo Tyres (1.08%), Ashok Leyland (1.06%) and Bajaj Auto (0.6%).
Market breadth was positive with 1,271 advances against 509 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 163.87 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 74.02 million), I C I C I Bank (Rs. 65.65 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 64.66 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 5.36 million shares. It was followed by GVK Power & Infrastructure (2.47 million), Sanraa Media (0.76 million) and Suzlon Energy (0.63 million).www.goldennifty.com
