At 11.52 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 185.32 points or 1.18% at 15,924.02 with 28 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 54.10 points or 1.15% at 4,768.10 with 43 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 43.47 points or 0.28% at 15,782.17, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 4.15 points or 0.09%, at 4,718.15.
Infosys contributed rise of 26.09 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (19.81 points), Bharti Airtel (19.42 points), Tata Consultancy Services (16.39 points) and H D F C Bank (14.39 points).
However, Hindalco Industries contributed fall of 0 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (0.87 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.91 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.92 points) and Tata Power Company (1.25 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (3.46%), Hero Honda Motors (2.01%), Jaiprakash Associates (1.96%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.95%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.75%), and Larsen & Toubro (1.67%).
On the other hand, Cipla (0.30%) was the only loser in the Sensex pack.
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.81% and 1.01% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.38%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.31%), Aban Offshore (1.02%), A I A Engineering (0.66%) and Alstom Projects India (0.15%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were A B G Infralogistics (1.38%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.33%), Advanta India (1.02%), Provogue (India) (1.01%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.46%).
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Allcargo Logistics (2.38%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.31%), Aban Offshore (1.02%), A I A Engineering (0.66%) and Alstom Projects India (0.15%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were A B G Infralogistics (1.38%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.33%), Advanta India (1.02%), Provogue (India) (1.01%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.46%).
Sectors in Limelight
The TECk index was at 3,386.59, up by 59.28 points or by 1.78%. The major gainers were Bharti Airtel (3.46%), Idea Cellular (2.6%), Reliance MediaWorks (1.33%), Mphasis (1%) and Dish TV India (0.65%).
The IT index was at 5,763.74, up by 87.76 points or by 1.55%. The major gainers were Oracle Financial Services Software (1.67%), Infosys (1.57%), Mphasis (1%), Tech Mahindra (0.66%) and H C L Technologies (0.35%).
The Capital Goods index was at 8,283.13, up by 123.64 points or by 1.52%. The major gainers were Crompton Greaves (3.84%), BGR Energy Systems (2.53%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.26%), Alstom Projects India (0.15%) and Bharat Electronics (0.13%).
The Realty index was at 1,448.13, up by 20.45 points or by 1.43%. The major gainers were D L F (1.57%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.48%), D B Realty (0.62%), Anant Raj Industries (0.59%) and Sunteck Realty (0.34%).
Market breadth was positive with 1,594 advances against 749 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 327.28 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 152.15 million), Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 139.60 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 139.50 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 5.62 million shares. It was followed by GVK Power & Infrastructure (4.40 million), Suzlon Energy (1.57 million) and Lanco Infratech (1.14 million).www.goldennifty.com
