IN INTRADAY TRADING TIPS 21 JUN 2012


SENSEX TRADES SUBDUED; RIL, TCS, HINDALCO FALL

Indian markets still trading in a lackluster manner amid volatility. BSE Midcap and Smallcap index outperformed the Sensex and Nifty. Oil & gas and IT stocks witnessed profit booking, while capital goods and power gained.   
Sensex was trading down 33.47 points or 0.20% at 16,863.16 with 16 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 12.55 points or 0.25% at 5,108 with 28 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 41.03 points or 0.24% at 16,855.60, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 23.20 points or 0.45%, at 5,097.35.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed fall of 47.23 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (18.94 points), Infosys (7.87 points), State Bank Of India (4.94 points) and Mahindra & Mahindra (4.38 points).
However, I T C contributed rise of 11.98 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Larsen & Toubro (8.75 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (8.08 points), Bharat Heavy Electricals (5.51 points) and Hindustan Unilever (4.28 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.51%), Tata Power Company (1.35%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.21%), Hero Motocorp (1.10%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.03%), and Larsen & Toubro (1.02%).
On the other hand, Reliance Industries (3.07%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.16%), Hindalco Industries (1.39%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.24%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.16%), and Jindal Steel & Power (0.74%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.25% and 0.36% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (3.89%), Amtek Auto (1.03%), Alstom Projects India (0.62%), A B G Shipyard (0.57%) and CORE Education and Technologies (0.47%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (0.74%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.69%), Aarti Industries (0.62%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.55%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.15%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Capital Goods index was at 9,720.01, up by 129.08 points or by 1.35%. The major gainers were A I A Engineering (3.89%), A B B (1.98%), BEML (1.48%), Bharat Electronics (0.87%) and Alstom Projects India (0.62%).
The Power index was at 1,873.67, up by 13.36 points or by 0.72%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.51%), A B B (1.98%), Crompton Greaves (1.51%), Lanco Infratech (1.02%) and NTPC (0.3%).
The Realty index was at 1,589.83, up by 11.17 points or by 0.71%. The major gainers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.98%), D L F (1.26%), Indiabulls Real Estate (1.18%), Parsvnath Developers (0.41%) and D B Realty (0.31%).
On the other hand, the Oil & Gas index was at 7,891.08, down by 88.11 points or by 1.1%. The major losers were Reliance Industries (3.07%), Cairn India (2.14%) and Gujarat State Petronet (0.78%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,167 advances against 1,094 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 403.36 million. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (Rs. 319.74 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 296.59 million) and Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 249.04 million).
The volume chart was led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 2.73 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (2.57 million), Cals Refineries (2.54 million) and Spicejet (2.04 million).
